Infringement to reputation: Spin Partners in the periodical of INHESJ

Christian Harbulot, Augustin Roch and Artus Huot De Saint Albin wrote an article about the infringement to reputation in Les Cahiers de la Sécurité et de la Justice.

The number 34 of the periodical published by the INHESJ (National Institute of Studies in Security and Justice) focused on the economic security and the ways to protect enterprises.

The article reminds us that the information society creates new vulnerabilities. Thus, the enterprises informational environment is changed with the affirmation of actors from the civil society: protesting, consumers associations, NGO, angry employees…In fact, people or organizations that had authority in the past, because they had the knowledge, are gradually in competition with other sources of information, just as legitimate. Therefore, the question of the management of a company’s reputation is asked, often forced to justify its actions in front of historical media or social media.

Through two examples, the one of Greenpeace against the supermarket chain Leclerc, or the analysis of the benzene promotion by the professional union American Petroleum Institute, the writers debunk strategies in place to counteract the informational attacks and emphasize the importance of know-hows to manage this kind of situation. That is to say, monitoring and analyze to anticipate and decrypt evolutions and ruptures, the communication of influence to protect and promote its interests.
